Summer vacation with my grandchildren on the Oregon Coast |
Students were given a prompt to write about a special day they experienced this summer. We spent time building background knowledge and brainstorming some ideas together. Then, students were given a graphic organizer to put their thoughts down on paper in an organized way. Next, students prepared their "sloppy copy" (rough draft), and finally, prepared and published the finished piece. This first writing experience will be used to assess student knowledge of writing skills. It gives me information regarding your child's ability to write at this time, and helps me to prepare useful lessons for future instruction. I enjoyed reading all about various adventures students enjoyed this summer!
